Six room types cover a wide range of budgets and group sizes: a fan-cooled bungalow with shared bathroom for travellers who simply want a bed by the sea, air-conditioned bungalows with en suite bathrooms, and larger Superior and family rooms for up to five guests. Every unit has a fan and a garden view.
Eating is easy: the New Hut Restaurant cooks Thai and Western dishes, and there is also a bar, a coffee house and a minimarket on site. The front desk, open around the clock, can help with shuttle services, the tour desk arranges trips around the island, and Wi-Fi is free in the public areas.
New Hut Bungalow offers six room types, from a simple bungalow to a family suite. All of them look out over the garden, every unit has a fan, and towels are provided. Five of the six add air conditioning and a private bathroom, while the most basic bungalow keeps things simple with a fan and shared bathroom facilities.
The real difference is space and how many of you are travelling. The bungalows sleep two and measure 9 to 16 m²; the Superior Triple and Quadruple rooms take three or four guests in 18 and 20 m², and the Deluxe Family Suite, at 22 m², sleeps up to five.
Life at New Hut Bungalow revolves around the beach. The resort sits right on the sand, with a sun terrace and garden views, and the New Hut Restaurant sits alongside a bar, a coffee house and a minimarket for snacks and essentials. Packed lunches can be prepared for days out, and special diet menus are available on request.
The front desk offers express check-in and check-out and can arrange shuttle services, while the tour desk helps plan trips around Koh Samui. Snorkelling, diving, canoeing and fishing can be arranged at extra charge. Free public parking is available nearby, Wi-Fi is free in public areas, and the property is non-smoking, with a designated smoking area.

Samui International Airport is about 30 minutes away by road, depending on traffic. The front desk can help arrange a shuttle, and taxis, songthaews (the shared pick-up trucks) and ride-hailing apps such as Grab and Bolt all work on the island. Ferries from the mainland arrive at Nathon, roughly 45 to 60 minutes' drive from Lamai. Chaweng is around 15 minutes away by car, a little longer at busy times. If you're driving, free public parking is available nearby without reservation. Check-in starts at 12:00, and if you'll arrive after 14:00 it's worth letting the property know your arrival time in advance.
The beach is the main draw, and many evenings end at the Lamai Night Market on Lamai Beach Road, open every evening with plenty of street food. At the southern end of the bay, the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks are best visited in the late afternoon. Wat Lamai, about 1.2 km away, has a Cultural Hall and Folklore Museum with objects from Samui's pre-tourism days. For views, the Lamai Viewpoint can be reached by funicular or on foot and looks out over 180 degrees of coast. Hin Lat Waterfall, around 20 minutes' drive towards Nathon, needs a 20- to 30-minute walk and is at its best after the rains, from October to January. December to February, the dry season, is the best time to visit; March to May is hot, while October and November bring the monsoon, with November usually the wettest month.
